When about fifteen years ago an unknown African man wanted to sell us some Dogon Bronzes we doubted of its authenticity. Of course we went to one of the most prestigious professor of the University of Granada to make sure, and for our surprise not only did he confirm its authenticity but he also purchased the piece with out arguing on the price. It was the beginning of our relationship with Yoro Bani that lasted until his unfortunate death, and the beginning of our trip in to the African art trade.
Thanks to the journeys of our friend Yoro through Mali and Burkina Faso we were pioneers in our shop in Granada in displaying some excellent pieces from the Dogon, Fulani, Bambara tribes, etc.
When years later we established our selves in Cape Town, South Africa, our objective was to establish links with expert traders of different parts of the continent, who could supply us with original African arts and crafts, both new and antique from all the different tribes.
Today we have a dedicated group of people from different parts of Africa who make available for us a wide collection of masks, statues and all sort of artefacts from most of the major tribes. Straight to our base in Cape Town from the villages where they reside, which makes our prices very competitive.
From our retail store in Green Market Sq. in Cape Town, where we’ve been for the past four years, we have been shipping to our customers all over the world. From Europe, China, USA, South America, etc.
Our clients range from knowledgeable collectionists, to people who simply felt attracted to the beauty of this tribal pieces of art. We have also supplied European retail stores.
Our vision of African Art goes beyond anthropological concepts or of any other type. We are attracted to their immense beauty and simplicity and the ability with which they are hand crafted and evoke estates and emotions.
We believe this to be the greatness of African Art, that, us with its music, manifests the greatness of such a diversity of people with the common extraordinary expressive strength.
